Jonathan Lancton
VP, Deputy General Counsel
Jonathan Lancton serves as Vice President & Deputy General Counsel of Chord Energy. Mr. Lancton has more than 15 years of legal experience and most recently served as Assistant General Counsel for Chord Energy.
Mr. Lancton joined Oasis Petroleum in 2016 (Oasis Petroleum subsequently became Chord Energy upon its merger with Whiting Petroleum in 2022). Mr. Lancton served in positions of increasing responsibility, supporting all aspects of the companies’ commercial business, including business development, land, litigation, operations, supply chain, EH&S, human resources, marketing, and midstream. Prior to Oasis Petroleum and Chord Energy, Mr. Lancton was in practice at Baker McKenzie LLP where he primarily represented upstream companies on transactional and operational matters.
Mr. Lancton holds a Juris Doctorate, summa cum laude, from University of Houston and a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts from University of Denver. He is a member of the state bar of Texas.
